El 18 de junio de 2010 tuvo lugar la Asamblea Ordinaria del Grupo de Desarrollo Rural Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche. En la reunión se han aprobado las cuentas anuales de la asociación así como la Memoria Anual del ejercicio 2009.  También se ha presentado el Plan de Actividades del ejercicio 2010.

Horse riding at the Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche

Last Saturday, April 24th was held the day "Route Equestrian by the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche". We enjoyed a wonderful spring day riding the trails of the Sierra, through the Tourism Plan Sierra Morena.

The route started at the "La Suerte" Stables, from there we enter one of the paths of PN Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche, we walk among orchards, chestnut woods, meadows and mixed thick with oak trees, we reached the village of Castaño del Robledo . He made a break for both, horses to riders.

From Robledo Castaño take the road back along the shore of Jabugo, the predominant vegetation in this stretch was the gallery forest, the mass of trees that grow on the banks of the rivers, but the activity follows in a chestnut  wood.

Those who participated enjoyed a beautiful day which is reflected in our photos.

The Counseling of Agriculture grants EUR 271,548.49 grant through the Rural Development Group Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche.

The Territorial Council of Rural Development Group Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche has approved the first four projects under the Andalusian Programme for Sustainable Rural Development "LiderA", funded by the Counseling of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Andalusian and the European Union through the EAFRD. This program has a budget of around EUR 4.6 million for the mountainous region for the period 2009-2011.

Approved projects will receive a public subsidy of EUR 271,548.49, making a total investment in the region of EUR 1,010,802.62. Will create two new jobs and the maintenance of another 18.

Two of these projects have been submitted by the municipalities of La Nava and Aracena and shall consist, respectively, in the architectural restoration of the Shrine of the Virtudes as a center for public use, with a budget of 540,000 euros and a grant of 120,000 and the installation of a youth recreation center in Aracena, with an investment of EUR 216,793.33 and a grant of 88 638 euros. The third project has received a grant of 36 750 euros. It consists of the modernization of an Iberian pig meat company, with investment of 147,000 euros will maintain 16 jobs. Finally approved the adequacy of a function room in the village of Santa Olalla del Cala, a project that will create two jobs for young women in the area. The investment of EUR 106,954.99 will be funded with EUR 26160.49.

These actions are part of the Regional Development Strategy GDR, based on improving the competitiveness of agricultural and agri-food sector, diversifying the local economy and improving the quality of life of the population. These projects contribute to the provision of infrastructure, equipment and services in the mountain municipalities, while that enable job creation and improve the conditions for information, advice and entertainment of youth.

"THE IBERIAN HAM ROUTE", the new tourism product for the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche

On Wednesday April 14, 2010 was held at the Aracenaś  City Hall, an act where distinctive were delivered "Product Club Iberian Ham Route", by the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade, to all business people Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche who have participated in this process.

This event was attended by the Mayor of Aracena, Manuel Guerra, President of the Rural Development Group Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche, Felix Soto, the head of department of the provincial delegation of the Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Sport, José Román and Assistant Director General for Development and Sustainable Tourism Turespaña, Gonzalo Ceballos.

 

The Iberian Ham Route is a new tourist product that aims to attract visitors using the resources offered by the Iberian pig, especially the ham, the territory that supports their production of the gourmet products, their processing techniques and culture, offering visitors a complete experience. To preserve the quality of the product have been established a number of requirements to ensure quality and consistency of the same in all establishments, events and destinations that adhere to the club.

The project, led by Turespaña collaboration with Rural Development Groups in areas with Designations of Origin of Iberian ham, seeks both to improve the production of local food products of high quality and give value to natural resources and cultural the Spanish Dehesa, unique historical example of sustainable production of our rural environment. Thus, it seeks to develop new economic activities from a networking strategy, ensuring sustainable development of territories.

During 2009 there has been a pilot deployment Product Club in the region of Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche (Huelva) culminating with the accession of 30 companies from accommodations, restaurants, activities, ham cellar and farms.

To give continuity to this project, the Rural Development Groups that are located within the territory of the 4 Designations of Origin of Iberian ham, among which is the GDR Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche, have submitted an interregional cooperation project to call 2010 the Ministry of Environment, Rural and Marine who has the support of the Ministry of Tourism / Turespaña.
